Tiana on the radio
Over the past four blog posts I have been putting together information that addresses pain, where it comes from, and potential explanations for chronic pain. It is sort of in the job description to address this. I chose a profession that is strongly based in getting people out of pain and into function. I italicize that last part because I do believe that inherently, a movement expert such as a physical therapist should not only deal with temporary pain relief, they must also have the skill set to identify the cause of pain, then help to find / teach / develop preventative solutions. In my opinion, this encompasses bringing back a person’s movement independence, or a return to function.
Going through school I was always pretty decent at math and science. I loved algebra and organic chemistry. Mostly, I loved to problem solve. I excelled at these two subjects in school and in high school I was taking math and science courses at minimum one year ahead of me. I am not saying this to brag but rather identify that problem solving has always been a strong skill of mine that I continue to apply in my career as a physical therapist.
Recently I was a guest on the Yoga with Jake Podcast where I talk about my approach to health, movement, rehabilitation, and how biochemistry integrates into treating the whole individual, not just addressing a or the problematic joint. I am sharing the podcast with you below in case you would like to have a listen!
